What a profoundly blessed and joyous day at DePaul Centre! On Saturday, September 27, 2025, our congregation gathered in a spirit of gratitude and celebration to honor our patron, St. Vincent DePaul. This year’s feast was a monumental one, marking not one, but several significant milestones in the life of the Vincentian family.
A Double Celebration: 25 Years of DePaul Centre
The air was filled with a special sense of gratitude as the Congregation of the Mission celebrated the 25th Anniversary of DePaul Centre. For a quarter of a century, this sacred space has been a beacon of Vincentian values, forming hearts and minds for the mission of serving Christ in the poor. We reflected on decades of grace, community, and unwavering service.
Honoring Our Foundation: The First Students
During our celebrations, we paid a heartfelt tribute to the pioneers of this very mission—the three confreres who were the first seminarians at DePaul Centre. Fr. Angelus Njagi,CM, Fr. Philip Njenga, CM, and Fr. Lennoxie Lusabe, CM. We celebrated their lives, their courage, and their foundational faith, which laid the cornerstone upon which the Vice-Province has been built for the past 25 years. Their legacy is the living heritage we carry forward today. A Sacred Promise: A Seminarian’s Vow In a moving and inspiring ceremony that directly continues the journey begun by those first students, the community witnessed a powerful moment of commitment as Mr. Peter Masila, CM took his perpetual vows, solemnly pledging a life of Chastity, Poverty, Obedience, and Stability. A Living History: The Daughters of Charity Adding to the day’s grace were our dear mission partners, the Daughters of Charity, who joined the Vincentians. They brought the story of our founder to life through a captivating and heartfelt drama, depicting St. Vincent’s life and his divine call to the priesthood. Their performance was a beautiful reminder of the humble beginnings and the fiery charity that ignited our family. The presence of the entire Vincentian family, Daughters of Charity, lay partners, and friends made this day a true reflection of the community St. Vincent envisioned. It was a feast day to remember with the launch of Friends of Vincentians by Very Rev. Fr. Benson, Visitor. The legacy of St. Vincent de Paul is alive and well St. Vincent de Paul, pray for us!
